hello i have writers block
Hi all. Long story short, I was meant to be writing about a film today (the 2000 Japanese horror Isola) but instead I’m here admitting that I’m kind of… going through some issues with writers block. The past few weeks have been very busy for my other bit of life, so I haven’t really had the time to face up to it but it hit me hard when I sat down to watch the film this morning.
Sometimes I pick a film to write about only for my brain to lose grasp on any threads I may have connecting to it. It happened last year when I tried to write about Calvaire and it happened earlier this year when I tried to write about Possessor. It sucks and I hate when it happens and I hate that I keep having to take breaks because I want to write good stuff both for me and for you all. I am so grateful for you sticking in this little corner of the horror internet and I can only hope that you allow me the time to gather myself over the next week or so.
Maybe I will write an issue about Isola one day but it won’t be today and I’m sorry. I’ll be back very soon though.
The struggle between writing regularly (or "enough," whatever that means) and writing something we feel proud of is hard. I hope you get back in the groove soon!
