A film that truly epitomizes the phrase "video nasty."

Tell you what, it did make me feel a little grimy afterwards so as far as immersion in the atmosphere Ferrara had that down from the getgo

Once again, you're introducing me to a chapter of film history of which I was completely unfamiliar.

The premise does sound good. It's too bad it wasn't well executed.

I am your resident film historian/shitposter.

It really does sound like it should work but to me at least it just doesn't. I think Ferrara did better later in his career (I will always ride for The Addiction as his masterpiece) but as a jumping off point for the story of the video nasty era, this is essential.

One way to describe it would be as a grimier, more amateurish, more violent, more disturbed Taxi Driver.

I watched the start of Driller Killer when my dad got it on pirate video from our local garage back in the day. I was clearly far too young to watch it, but those first 10 or 15 minutes were enough. It didn’t scare me, I just thought it was a bit rubbish. Haven’t watched it since. I’m glad to hear 40 years later my first opinion was correct 😁

By the way, perfect description of The Daily Mail now and then 👏😆

It was my first time watching it and I was just… baffled a little bit tbh.

Thank you, I have many feelings re the daily mail and none of them can be broadcast on British television before nine PM
